What to Look Out for When Searching for Luxury Holiday Cottages

Are you looking at luxury holiday cottages for your vacation? Great idea, because there are so many advantages to living in a luxury cottage compared to living in a hotel. You get privacy, it’s likely to be cheaper, it will definitely be much quieter and you get to choose whether to self-cater or to have some help come in.

Are there things that you should watch out for when looking for a luxury cottage? Yes. There are things that tell you right away that you might be making a wrong decision. Let’s see a few of them here:

  1. Some luxury holiday cottages are attached to the owner’s house, so that the owner has access to the compound although it’s most likely sealed off from the rest of the public. Find out if this is the case, and if it is, ask specifically about the level of privacy that the owner is prepared to give you.

  2. Location is important. You can get a luxury holiday cottage in any country of your choice, but just how do you get there? Some people have set off on holiday, landed in their destination country and then discovered that it’s all too difficult to get to the cottage they had booked. Make sure that you arrange a means of getting there, and the best person to help you with this would be the owner of the cottage. If it’s looking like it’s a difficult place to get to, keep searching.

  3. Most luxury cottages are designed to be a little different from regular holiday cottages – they are designed for luxury. Just what is in the one you’re looking at? Some people will call their establishments luxury holiday cottages when they are actually just cottages. Do you get a Jacuzzi, a hot tub? Do you get a stock of drinks? How well done is the interior? Do you get a luxury bed in your bedroom? Make sure that you at least get to see some pictures if nothing else.

  4. Check what they have in the kitchen especially if you plan to self cater. You might be disappointed to find that they don’t have the basic things that you need to get a meal together. Ask for a list and if there is something that’s missing, ask them if they can have it there for your stay. Most people will say yes unless you’re asking for something that’s obviously unreasonable.

  5. Luxury holiday cottages will usually offer night security 0f some sort. Even if it’s an internal alarm, you need to feel that you’re safe at night. If you ask and they don’t give you a specific answer on this, keep on looking. Remember that you’ll be alone and sort of isolated so you need to have a good amount of certainty that you’re secure.

  6. Lastly, check price. They are luxury cottages and so will come at a premium, but your measure should be that the more they charge, the better the facility. If they are charging a lot and you can find the same deal somewhere else for less, go for it.

Luxury holiday cottages are the ultimate getaway, but make sure that you choose well so that when you get there, you can relax and have a great time.
